Neil is the tutor for the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain Saxophone Course. Held alongside the main orchestra, these courses are designed for saxophonists aged 14 - 21 of Grade 8 standard and above. The course consists of ensemble playing, coaching, classes and performance workshops, leading to two concerts on the final day. Many course members go on to join the main orchestra, and often aim to study saxophone at conservatoire or university.

Neil is Woodwind tutor for the

English Schools' Orchestra. The ESO exists to provide the opportunity for talented young orchestral musicians, still in full time education, to meet and perform with other similarly talented young people from all over the country. Recent concert venues include the Barbican, Cadogan Hall and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Neil writes about music and education in publications such as Clarinet & Saxophone Society Magazine, Music Teacher magazine and online. He has written articles on a range of topics, including a beginner's guide to buying an instrument, a look at the overhaul of ABRSM aural tests and most recently, an interview with Huw Wiggin.
